Woodwork (2020), by Joel Karlsson, is both a desk and a meeting table. It's what's known as a "community table," a large shared surface for working and socializing. It's the perfect setting for gathering your team for a working breakfast before continuing to work side by side as the morning progresses. Lunchtime comes feedback time, with some standing and others sitting on the versatile 900mm-high surface. In the afternoon, it's perhaps the company executive group's turn to take over the table for the rest of the working day. The legs, where the rounded top becomes square at the bottom, are a subtle ergonomic detail that prevents anyone from bumping their knees when sitting or moving around the table. The table showcases the distinctive character of wood and was developed for a modern, activity-based office environment—hence the name Woodwork.
